Life Cycles

We walk beside one another through the full circle of life—celebrating milestones, marking transitions, and offering care in times of need. From baby namings and B Mitzvah celebrations to weddings, funerals, and yahrzeit remembrances, our clergy and community are here to support you with warmth, tradition, and meaning. Each ceremony is personalized to reflect your values and story, rooted in Jewish ritual and communal connection. Wherever you are on life’s journey, you’ll find guidance, blessing, and belonging here.

At Adat Shalom, we honor the sacred tradition of welcoming every new child into our community through meaningful ceremonies that celebrate their arrival and connection to the covenant. Whether through brit milah, baby naming, or a personalized ceremony that reflects your family’s values, we are here to support you in marking this important milestone.

If you are welcoming a newborn or adopting a child, please contact our office. We can offer guidance, schedule a simcha at Adat Shalom, recommend a mohel if needed, and support you in planning an at-home ceremony that feels right for your family.

We look forward to welcoming your newest family members into our community. You are invited to schedule a baby naming on a Shabbat morning. Bring your baby, family, and friends to services, where you will be honored with an aliyah—being called up to the Torah—and have the chance to share a few words about your baby’s name and its meaning. Your family will receive blessings and a heartfelt Mazel Tov from the entire congregation.

At Adat Shalom, these moments mark the beginning of a lifelong journey of connection, meaning, and belonging.

Becoming B Mitzvah is a joyful and meaningful milestone—and we’re honored to walk this journey with you.

What to expect:

Each B Mitzvah student at Adat Shalom will:

  • Read maftir, the final portion of the Torah reading
  • Share a D’var Torah based on the weekly portion
  • Lead core prayers and blessings during the service

You may also choose to:

  • Read additional aliyot
  • Chant Haftarah
  • Offer a “modern-day prophet” reflection based on their Haftarah

Service options include:

  • Shabbat Morning: Integrated into our full community service
  • Mincha (Afternoon): A more intimate gathering for invited guests
  • Rosh Chodesh: A weekday morning alternative.

This is a unique process for each person, not a one size fits all event.  We are excited to stay in conversation with you about what works for you, your family and your day! Please be in touch with Sydney.Levitt@adatshalom.net to discuss next steps.

Losing a loved one is among the most difficult moments we face in life. In times of grief and loss, our community is here to offer comfort, guidance, and support. Jewish tradition provides meaningful rituals that can help bring structure, healing, and holiness to the mourning process. Whether you are preparing for a funeral, sitting shiva, or beginning the journey of remembrance, our clergy and staff are here for you every step of the way.
